Vision Board - How To Manifest The Year You Want

mental wellness

It was time to say good-bye to 2021 and everything it had to offer. Regardless of whether you had a good year or a bad year. A new year serves as an opportunity to refresh and restart.

It is a known fact that many individuals who set resolutions for the new year fail. We all say "new year new me" and make these ambitious goals but quickly lose momentum very early on.

It is because creating new years resolutions has become a trend rather than a lifestyle choice!

When you make the choice to change your mindset. You must commit to making that choice everyday until it becomes a habit. In the short term it will be difficult making that choice everyday because it is out of the ordinary. The purpose behind the goal is for a positive change but the discomfort that is attached to it can be hard to shake off. However, in the long term accomplishing that goal will have long lasting rewards.

Here is where vision boards are a great tool in creating change in your life.

What Is A Vision Board?

A vision board is a visual representation of your goals and aspirations.

It can be long – term, short-term or both. But a good tip is to make a separate board for your long-term goals and separate board for your short – term goals.

These boards help you take your dreams out of your head and onto paper where you can see it and hold onto the excitement for the day it becomes a reality.

Vision boards are also an excellent way for you to go past your comfort zone by challenging yourself to activities or hobbies that have always interested you, but you never gained the confidence to try.

But there is a catch.

There is this misconception that once you make a vision board that is it. The message is sent off the universe and your manifesting is complete.

I am going to let you in on a little secret. Whether you are spiritual or not, manifesting is only one piece of the puzzle. You cannot manifest to swim in the Great Barrier Reef without learning to swim first.

It is the same thing when it comes to manifesting your dream job, vacation, career, partner, etc.

You need to put in work to make an ambition happen.

When you make a vision board you are telling your unconscious mind "this is what I want, and I am ready to take the steps to achieve it."

What is The Purpose Of A Vision Board?

Your vision board is meant to be your visual cheer leader that keeps you motivated and energized. It is meant to help you turn your goals into a reality and serves as a guide in the process.

A vision board allows you to utilize your right brain and get creative. As a bonus this will allow you to regulate your body and refresh your mind.

When you make a vision board you are also helping your mind understand what you really want. it helps you untangle any knots you have in your mind about what you want and most importantly what you are passionate about.

Passion plays a big role in the success of our goals. If you are not emotionally invested in something that you want to achieve the likelihood of accomplishing it, is very little.

How many times has this happened to you?

You got a project that you absolutely had no interest in, and it felt like you were dragging your feet trying to finish it versus getting a project on a subject you absolutely loved and immediately your ideas started flowing and just like that the project was done!

What is The Difference Between A Vision Board and Goal Setting?

A vision board illustrates the prize, it is the final picture of what will look or feel like when you finally hit that goal. It is an affirmation of your goals and dreams.

Your vision board aligns with your core values and priorities. This vision can be regarding your life, career, or relationships. Once you have the vision you want you can then move into figuring out how you will achieve it through goal setting.

Goal setting is the specific target that you need to reach to move towards your vision. This is where all the hard work happens.

When you are goal setting you are concise and detailed about what it is that you are trying to achieve. Creating realistic goals helps you stay focused and enables you to plan steps towards reaching the desired goal.

For example, saying I will be financially free is a vision that you are creating for yourself whereas saying I will be making $10,000 a month by December 31, 2022, is a goal that will eventually take you to your vision.
